The District of Sparwood has completed the 2016 Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) Public Report as required by the Province of BC. The CARIP Report summarizes the actions taken in 2016 and those proposed for 2017 to reduce corporate and community‐wide energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and reports on progress towards achieving carbon neutrality.
The District of Sparwood provides overnight vehicle storage (including travel trailers, RV’s, etc.) at our impound lot for any vehicle that is parked on public park and greenbelts areas!
Costs include impoundment fees and fines ranging from $125 - $500.

BC Hydro will be providing an opportunity for their Operations Planners to share information with the general public on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 am MT (10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time) about how they are preparing for high water levels this year and planning for flood operations, if needed.

Children First/Success by 6 is working in partnership with Interior Health East Kootenay Public Health Nursing to pilot a project designed to promote safe sleep for infants as well as an early and meaningful connection with Public Health Nursing and community resources for first time parents in the East Kootenay.
Baby beds will be available at no cost for all families having their first baby on or after June 1, 2017 (while supplies last).

2017 Summer Camp Leaders
The 2017 Summer Camp will run Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm starting on July 3rd and ending on August 18th. Leaders will be responsible for the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of our summer camp program. Candidates should be energetic, well organized, have outstanding leadership skills and enjoy working with kids of all ages. Camp leaders should have experience working with children, valid first aid and a diverse knowledge of games, crafts and sporting activities. Our leaders must be able to work independently and as a team. Candidates must be 16 years or older and be available from June 30 until August 18, 2017. Training will occur the week of June 26, 2017. Successful candidates must be available to assist with the annual Canada Celebrations on July 1st. The District of Sparwood is inviting applications for a casual employee to fill the position of Casual Clerk in the Engineering, Public Works and Finance Departments. This casual position is on an on-call basis to cover absences due to illness, vacation, special leaves or any approved leave, to fill temporary vacancies and augment staffing levels during peak periods. The candidate should be available on short notice to fill in for unplanned absences. There is no guarantee of hours with this position.
