Adopting an animal can be a rewarding experience

The District of Sparwood is dedicated to finding safe and happy forever homes for all animals in our pound that have been left unclaimed after 144 hours (6 days).

We encourage you to take your adopted pet to your veterinarian within 3 days of purchase to have it examined.  The Animal Control Officer does not knowingly adopt out unhealthy animals, however, it is possible that animals may have been exposed to diseases and have not shown symptoms while in our care.

    • A notice will be posted on the District’s website, Facebook, Twitter, municipal notice boards, and the local newspaper (time permitting) offering the animal for sale.

We advise those interested in adopting an animal from us to do the following:

      • Complete a Pet Adoption Form
      • Spend time with the animal at the pound to see if he/she will be a good fit for your lifestyle
      • Speak with an Animal Control Officer as they are knowledgeable on the pet's personality and will provide you with care and nutrition information for your new pet.
    • The lowest acceptable price will be the outstanding boarding fees:

      • $2 per day boarding fee
      • $30 dog licence or $10 for spayed/neutered dogs (if applicable)
    • Adoption Notice

Applications for the adoption of this playful and friendly intact male cat are now available from the District of Sparwood Office, located at 136 Spruce Avenue.

Applications will be accepted until 10:00 am, March 5, 2020.
