2019 - 2023 Financial Plan Open House

If you live in Sparwood, you are invited to a Public Budget Consultation Meeting that will be held to discuss the District’s Financial Plan for the next five years. Council invites and encourages the public to attend and provide feedback that will assist Council in setting priorities for our community.

New Procedure Bylaw 1245

Notice is hereby given that the Council for the District of Sparwood is proposing to replace its current Council Procedure Bylaw 1022, 2009, by adopting “Procedure Bylaw 1245, 2019” at their February 19, 2019 regular meeting.

Livability Workshops

We are holding two workshops for the Livability Study and you’re invited! You can register for either of two workshops: an afternoon workshop on Feb. 19 or an evening workshop on Feb 20. These workshops will be deeper dives into some of the data we have begun collecting from the questionnaire and interviews, and are a way to tell us more about livability if you didn’t get to say everything you wanted to say in the questionnaire. Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 29, 2019

TAKE NOTICE that a special meeting of the District of Sparwood Council will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers, Municipal Office located at 136 Spruce Avenue to hold an informal hearing for Development Variance Permit 2019-001.

RDEK Solid Waste Management Plan Review

The RDEK is currently reviewing its Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). They are asking for the public's input on how they use the current solid waste and recycling systems and what they'd like to see in the future.  Survey deadline is February 25, 2019.

Development Variance Permit 2019-001

Council for the District of Sparwood will at the Special Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on January 29, 2019 will consider Development Variance Permit 2019-001 for 319 Pacific Yew Crescent to increase the maximum site coverage for an accessory building to construct a detached garage.

From January 15 - February 28, 2019 the District will be seeking resident, worker and visitor participation in engagement activities related to the livability study. Participate through an online survey, visit a pop-up office, attend a workshop or stop in at our booth at Winterfest!

Livability Study Launched

The District is conducting a livability study to look at quality of life in Sparwood. Starting in mid-January, community members will have a chance to share insights on what they value most about Sparwood; how best to measure our quality of life;
and ways we can ensure residents have an outstanding quality of life in the future.

Apply Online for the Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs

The Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs are intended to be flexible and incorporate community-based funding decisions. 

There is a new online application process for 2019. Applicants are encouraged to carefully read through the 2019 Application Guide for application information and instructions. The deadline to apply for the program is January 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm (MST).

2018 Property Assessments

BC Assessment will be sending out property assessment notices on December 31st. The value of your property on these notices are what your property taxes are based on.

If you did not receive your BC Assessment notice in the mail by mid January, contact us and we can update them with the correct mailing address. Click here for more information.

Individual consultants, businesses or companies with proven experience and expertise with nuisance mosquito control programs are invited to submit detailed proposals setting out one or more means by which the goals, objectives and other requirements of this request may be best met.
