Effective immediately, the District of Sparwood Spray Park has been reopened for community use.
District of Sparwood parks, sports fields, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts are now open for public use. Several safety measures are in place regarding the access of these areas.
BA Blacktop (Cranbrook) will begin the Sparwood Sidewalk Improvements Project starting on Red Cedar Drive – Aspen Drive to Centennial Drive on Monday, May 4th, 2020.
The Committee of the Whole Meeting scheduled for April 28, 2020 at 6:00 pm has been cancelled.
Effective at noon Mountain time on Thursday, April 16, 2020, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the District of Sparwood and will remain in place until the public is otherwise notified. This ban is being activated in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and aligns with the Provincially announced prohibition which is aimed to reduce human caused wildfires and minimize the need to deploy staff, therefore helping to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

As part of the ongoing communication and collaboration with various key agencies within the municipality, the District of Sparwood is launching a Volunteer Registry. This registry is being developed out of advanced planning and an abundance of precaution and will be utilized only if it becomes necessary during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In support of the Provincial order for social distancing and as part of our effort to flatten the curve for the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all District of Sparwood playgrounds (play structures), basketball courts, ball diamonds, tennis courts and the skateboard park are now closed to the public. Signs will be posted at these facilities.
Trail networks and park spaces remain open and families are encouraged to spend time outdoors and be active, while being mindful of maintaining social distancing of 2 meters between users.

The District of Sparwood has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in support of the government of British Columbia’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The EOC has been established to provide a central contact point of information and will allow the District to coordinate communication with many important external agencies, as well as plan and work collaboratively with local, regional and provincial efforts that are underway.
