Parks, trails and open spaces such as sports fields, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts are open for use. Please utilize these spaces individually or with family units only. Group sporting events are not permitted. Please do not utilize a space unless there is sufficient room to maintain physical distancing.
Users are reminded to bring your own hand sanitizer, watch your spacing while using our courts, wait your turn if it is busy and keep your circle small.
When using our trails please step to the side to let people pass.
The Sparwood Skatepark, located at 367 Pine Avenue is open for use with posted health and safety guidelines.
Please keep your distance when waiting your turn and consider coming back at a later time if the park is busy.

The Sparwood Off-Leash Dog Park is open for use. Please follow all health and safety guidelines as they apply to all District spaces.

It is important for families to note that play structures, surfaces and / or equipment are not sanitized. Bringing and utilizing your own hand sanitizer is recommended before and after use. If you are unsure if you or your family should be using the play equipment, various options for alternate outdoor activity can be explored in one of the many District parks or open spaces.
Effective Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 6:30 am, the Sparwood Leisure Centre Pool will be open for public use. Various health and safety procedures are in place and pool users are asked to familiarize themselves with the new protocols prior to arrival.

The Sparwood Fitness Centre is now open for public use with health and safety protocols in place.
The Fitness Centre, located within the Sparwood Leisure Centre will be open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Weekend hours will align with the opening of the pool, which is anticipated to occur mid-July.

The arena is closed for the season. We are taking regular ice bookings in preparation for the 2020/21 ice season. To book ice time please contact the Sparwood Recreation Department at 250.425.0552 or email recoffice@sparwood.ca.
Sport organizations should review their individual sports requirements to determine the safe sport practices. The District will be working closely with all sport groups to help ensure ice sports return to Sparwood this fall.

February 2021 - Sparwood Livability Study: Community Grading Survey
We are now accepting responses for the 2021 Community Grading Survey. Please take 10 minutes to provide your views on the quality of life in Sparwood. The information collected this year will be used to produce the 2021 Livability Report Card. The Report Card and is updated annually to understand, measure, and monitor the quality of life in Sparwood.

February 2, 2021 -Funding provided by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada is now available to help the public and Indigenous groups participate in the federal environmental assessment for the proposed Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project, located in the Elk Valley, British Columbia.
The Agency will consider funding applications received by March 3, 2021.
