Emergency Preparedness Volunteer Registry

As part of the ongoing communication and collaboration with various key agencies within the municipality, the District of Sparwood is launching a Volunteer Registry. This registry is being developed out of advanced planning and an abundance of precaution and will be utilized only if it becomes necessary during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Currently, we are seeking volunteers with skills in the following areas:

  • Medical or first response
  • Cooking (Must have valid FoodSafe)
  • Security
  • Delivery or courier
  • Cleaning

If you have any of the above, or other skills that you feel could be drawn upon during the COVID-19 emergency, please fill out the form at www.sparwood.ca/volunteering or contact the District of Sparwood at 250.425.6271 or email sparwood@sparwood.ca and provide your name, contact information and a brief description of your skills.

You will be contacted by emergency agencies if the need for volunteers arises during the pandemic and information will not be kept on record once the emergency is resolved.

Individual agencies may have additional screening requirements.

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act prohibits the District of Sparwood from using the information provided for any other purpose than for what it was collected.

Interior Health, RCMP, Fire, Search and Rescue, Ambulance, and other emergency agencies who require this information to perform their duties will have access to all information contained on the registry. There are strict rules about the sharing of information that are in place to protect your privacy. For example, Registry information would not be included in a police record check or a vulnerable sector check or be shared with an outside agency. This information will not be added to the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database.
