This week is Emergency Preparedness Week. Are you ready for an emergency? We would like to remind all residents to sign up for the RDEK Evacuation Notification System (ENS) powered by Voyent Alert! to keep residents and property owners informed in case of evacuation orders or alerts during critical events such as wildfires, floods or hazardous materials incidents.
This notification system will only be used for evacuation alerts or orders in the East Kootenay and every resident or property owner is encouraged to sign up.
The sign-up process is simple, free and is available to all residents and property owners in the East Kootenay: including rural RDEK, municipal and First Nations communities. You do have to register for the app and enter at least one location to receive notifications.
For more information or to register, click here.
There are three important steps you can take to get prepared.
1.) Know the risks
2.) Make a plan
3.) Get a kit
We are actively recruiting volunteers in partnership with the RDEK and the Canadian Red Cross to assist when friends and neighbours need it most. For more info visit https://engage.rdek.bc.ca/ess.
