Flags at the District of Sparwood have been positioned to half-mast to pay respect and tribute to the 215 children who were found at the former residential school site in Kamloops.
Mayor and Council extend sincere condolences to the families who have, and continue to suffer because of this horrific tragedy and injustice. We extend a call to all residents of Sparwood and beyond to take action and educate yourself on Indigenous peoples, their culture, residential schools and Truth and Reconciliation. It is up to us to ensure every generation to come has the knowledge, and commits to a better future.
