BYLAWS

Traffic, Parking, & Highways Regulation Amendment Bylaw Traffic, Parking, and Highways Regulation Amendment Bylaw 1273, 2020 received third reading. This amendment allows for an exemption in support of the Business License Bylaw Amendment. This bylaw will be brought forward at the Regular Meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 for adoption. Business Licence Amendment Bylaw Business Licence Amendment Bylaw 1272, 2020 received third reading. This amendment provides a process for the approval of temporary retail and eating spaces on municipal land, including roads, through application to the District for a Licence of Occupation. This bylaw will be brought forward at the Regular Meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 for adoption. For more information, see the staff report and bylaw.


BUSINESS

Ping Pong Table Request Council approved the Youth Advisory Commission’s request to install a concrete ping pong table at the Leisure Centre grounds (exact placement to be determined). The request included the provision of District staff to assist in the installation process. For more information see the staff report.

Strategic Priorities Update – June 2020 Council approved the Strategic Priorities update dated June 2020. This update incorporated changes that were discussed at the workshop held June 24 and 25. For more information see the staff report and strategic priorities.


OTHER INFORMATION / ANNOUNCEMENTS

It’s Fawning Season Fawning season is here, and the District would like to remind residents to watch out for does and fawns. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep well away from deer (and other wildlife). If you see a fawn, leave it alone and vacate the area. The District has posted “Aggressive Deer in Area” signs in areas of town where reports have been received. Residents should ensure their dogs are always leashed when out walking and be very conscientious of your surroundings, especially in these areas. Please report all wildlife encounters to the BC Conservation Officer Service RAPP line at 1.877.952.7277 or Cellular dial #7277. 2020 Property Tax Payment Due Date The due date for your 2020 property taxes is Monday, July 6, 2020. A 10% penalty will be applied to current year property taxes that remain outstanding after the due date. Even if a bank is paying the taxes through a mortgage, homeowners who qualify must still claim the HomeOwner Grant. The 10% penalty will also be applied to any grant amount outstanding after the due date. Home owners who have not received a tax notice should come into the District Office to obtain a duplicate copy.
