The District of Sparwood is excited to announce that Santa Claus is coming to town. By special request of Sparwood Mayor and Council, Santa is pleased to visit the community escorted by a special holiday convoy.
Aiming to spread some holiday cheer, the escort team will accompany Santa on his journey cruising the streets of Sparwood, waving and tossing a treat into the yards where he sees children. As safety is Santa’s top priority, residents are encouraged to watch the drive-by from their windows or doorsteps. Gathering on the streets is not permitted.
“We know that this year things are different, and it is really important to Mayor and Council to still provide the children and community with something to look forward to. We are very excited to be joining Santa on his visit to Sparwood and, as always, we remind residents to respect all health and safety orders,” says Sparwood Mayor David Wilks.
As there are many neighbourhoods in the community, Santa will be visiting the Lower Sparwood area on December 16 beginning at 6:30 pm. His route will begin at Fire Hall #1, then through the lower Sparwood area towards upper Sparwood and Lilac Terrace, with his last stop for the evening at Mountain View Mobile Home Park. On December 17, Santa will be starting at Fire Hall # 2 at 6:30 pm, driving through Sparwood Heights, Whisky Jack, Elk Valley Mobile Home Park, and concluding his route at Spardell and Michel Creek Road.
