As part of Sparwood’s annual Mosquito Control Program, aerial treatments are often planned when water levels rise and there is an increase in mosquito larvae. This year a flight is tentatively planned for the later morning or afternoon of Wednesday, May 19, 2021, weather permitting. If you see a helicopter flying around Sparwood with a hopper hanging under it, it is not an oversized mosquito but our contractor Duka Environmental. The hopper is used to treat areas for mosquitoes with VectoBac, to control the development of mosquito larvae. To report mosquito problems or for further information visit our pest management page or contact the District of Sparwood, 250.425.6271.
