Effective immediately, the District of Sparwood Skatepark is open for use. Skatepark patrons are requested to follow the posted guidelines at the park and follow recommendations from the provincial health authority, provincial recreation agencies and Canada Skateboard.
Canada Skateboard’s guidelines for COVID-19 safety include not attending the park if you are sick, keeping your distance while riding, avoid hanging out at the park if you’re not riding, try to avoid touching obstacles with your hands and bring hand sanitizer with you for use before and after your ride. If the Skatepark is busy, consider coming back at a different time of day when there are less riders.
With physical distancing requirements and popularity of the park, Sparwood will have Park Ambassadors onsite during anticipated peak times. Park Ambassadors will be there to help remind people of the facility rules and ensure everyone gets a turn to ride.
During peak use periods or when there are more than 25 people who want to use the park at one time, riding time will be limited to 30-minute sessions. Park Ambassadors will have a signup sheet and will be happy to sign up users to the next available time slot.
Skateboarders should work together to support and implement these measures to ensure an inclusive and safe environment. Always remember to keep your distance and play safe.
