The District is pleased to present it’s new float, which replaced the existing float that was in operation for over 20 years. This modernized and updated float incorporates elements of the previous design while providing additional ease of use, as the former float consisted of a pull behind trailer that required two people with a working knowledge of it’s assembly sequence to set up.
The simplified float now sits on the box a single truck which is wrapped in artwork designed by local resident Sue Hanlon. The art pays tribute to the outdoors and the many recreational activities you would find living in Sparwood. Secured in the back on a removable platform is a replica of the Terex Titan, complete with a box that can be raised and special effects smoke, built by District employee John Issacs and the Public Works team.
The District’s Community Promotion and Float Policy allows an employee to volunteer to attend and/or use the float at a parade within a 200 km radius of the District at the discretion of the Chief Administrative Officer.
