Volunteers Needed for Emergency Support Services

In conjunction with the Regional District of East Kootenay and the Canadian Red Cross, the District of Sparwood is actively seeking local volunteers for the provision of Emergency Support Services (ESS) within the community.

As a volunteer you will receive the training and support you need to assist during emergencies. ESS volunteers provide an invaluable service and play a critical role in their community and to those who require support.

What can you expect as an ESS Volunteer?

  • You will work with your team and community partners to register evacuees and provide access to services such as shelter, food, and clothing.
  • You can also help provide emotional care and comfort within an emergency shelter, community reception centre, community recovery centre or through outreach activities in the community.

How Do I Apply?

Contact Christina Carbrey at ccarbrey@rdek.bc.ca or 250-421-0293. She will share more about the program, answer questions, and connect you with the Red Cross to onboard as a volunteer.
