Backyard Chickens To Be Considered By Council
In May, 2021 the District requested public feedback on backyard chickens. 65% of survey responses supported allowing backyard chickens in single family residential areas with specific criteria and conditions. Council has indicated a desire to proceed with altering the Bylaw to allow for backyard hens. At the upcoming meeting, to be held on October 5, Council will be considering changes to the Animal Control Bylaw, which would outline guidelines in keeping chickens within the municipality.
